A meeting of the Sub-Committee of PAC Monitoring and Implementation was held under the chair of MNA Rana Afzaal Hussain here in the Parliament House. The committee expressed displeasure over absence of the secretary and principal accounting officer and decided to seek explanation.
The officials from FATA Secretariat present in the meeting informed the committee members that the secretary was on his way to Islamabad to attend the meeting when he received a telephone call from Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and returned to meet him. The convenor of the committee, however, said that meeting of the committee cannot proceed ahead in absence of the principal accounting officer.
Rana Afzaal also said the secretary FATA Secretariat was continuously avoiding appearing before the committee and that is why agenda of the meeting remains pending. Mian Abdul Mannan, a member of the sub-committee, said the public representatives are present in the meeting while the public servants are absent. He said the government officials should learn to respect the public representatives; otherwise, they could initiate strict action against them.
The sub-committee unanimously decided to write separate letters to Speaker National Assembly, Chairman PAC and Secretary Establishment against absence of the additional chief secretary FATA Secretariat, urging them to take action against the official for his absence in the meeting.
